If you’ve been paying any attention to me of late you already know that I’m positively obsessed with Good Omens at the moment, and have been for coming on two straight months now. I believe the proper fan-accepted term is “hyper-fixated”. It somehow doesn’t sound strong enough of a term to me, but I digress.
In the first month-and-a-half or so I devoured an absolutely inordinate amount of Good Omens fan-fiction, both of the innocent and not-so-innocent (*cough*smut*cough*) varieties. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both. Some of them are campy and silly. Some of them are downright literal porn. Others are, quite honestly, some of the most lovely things I’ve ever read, and I say that with absolute sincerity. There are some straight-up magic-makers on An Archive of Our Own.
I don’t know if I’ll ever consider myself a “magic-maker”, but I love to write. You know this. And I enjoy writing fan-fiction because it allows me to personally expand a universe that is otherwise concluded for me. Earthbound Creatures is a fun attempt at that.
My previous Good Omens fics were of the not-so-innocent variety (though I haven’t gotten those ones transcribed and up yet) but this one is my attempt at something that could actually be post-canon-possibility. It features several characters from the show, hones in on Crowley and Aziraphale’s love without getting too “human” about the whole concept, and will step forward into Second Apocalypse territory. It’s still a work in progress, with only the first two chapters up so far, but the comments I’m getting have been great so I’m quite motivated to keep going with it.
If you’re a Good Omens fan and looking for some universe-expansion that doesn’t careen too far away from the logic established by the original, maybe check it out and let me know what you think!
