“To Be Devoured” – A Patreon Exclusive from the World of “Nowhere to Hide”

Screenshot 2020-04-22 at 19.06.10

Since I first started up my Patreon I toyed with the idea of writing short stories that come from the worlds of my published books. Previously I’d written a short featuring Tori and Jacob from “The Other World“, which was fun but also very non-canon-compliant. This new short, titled “To Be Devoured” comes from the world of “Nowhere to Hide” and is very much canon. It features a closer look at what happened behind the scenes of the news broadcast from the opening chapter of the book, and I rather enjoyed writing it, so please check it out!

Plan & Goals 2020: Week 17 Review

weekinreview

How many weeks are we into social distancing right now? I’ve got to admit, I’ve lost all sense of the passage of time. It’s especially difficult to tell where we are in the year since it keeps RANDOMLY FRIKKIN’ SNOWING in Nova Scotia. I feel like we’ve somehow gone back in time. What year is it even? WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

In all seriousness, there’s been lots of news floating around, mostly coming from the US, about cities reopening services, opening beaches and the like, and from Canada some huge groupings of protesters trying to get things put back to normal. And with all that going on I just wanted to take a moment to remind you all to NOT BE DUMB-ASSES. The more you refuse to follow the rules, the more you insist on going out in large groups, the more you fail to take even the most basic precautions, the longer this thing is going to last. I’ll be the first person to tell you that things will have to break eventually, lest the world economy shatter into a million pieces, but for the time being we have to all do our part or it’s pointless. Do you want more people to die? No? Then stay the fuck home you selfish pricks.

Okay. Now that I’ve got that out of my system…

Goal #1: Be Healthier

Let’s not mince words here. I had a really, really bad week. But it’s leading up to something! As of today (possibly as you’re reading this) I’m starting P90X-2, and the intention is to take it very seriously. I expect this program to kick my ass up and down this house, and that’s what I want. But in the days leading up to that I decided to give myself a bit of a break, soooo….

  • Eat better (and less) – ….I’ve been eating like a pig. Okay, it might not be the worst I’ve ever been, but there’s definitely been a lot of carbs on the menu, and my portions haven’t exactly been small. But I intend to get my ass in gear with a better diet in tandem to P90X-2, so you can forgive me for splurging for a few days beforehand, right?
    .
  • Drink more water – Still drinking plenty of water, although I suspect I actually may still need a bit more than what I’ve been getting. I had a couple of days of feeling a bit scatterbrained and unable to focus, and I think I may have actually just been a tad dehydrated, so I’m going to start tracking my intake a little better.
    .
  • Get more exercise – Again, I gave myself a few days off here before starting the new program. I did do a few days of exercise during the first half of the week, but allowed myself to rest for the second half. Things are going to get really interesting from here, so I figured I deserved a wee bit of downtime before sacrificing myself to the P90X-2 gods.
    .
  • Lose 2 lbs per month – I haven’t been weighing myself, to be perfectly honest, because I know (roughly) where I am and I just haven’t wanted to see the number. That said, I’ll be weighing myself today (will have done by the time you’re reading this) for my start-of-program stats, and I’ll start letting you know how things are going next week when I’ve actually been good for a full week (*cough cough*).
    .

Goal #2: Be an Author

First off, I’d like to address the mini-goal of finishing a draft of “The Other World: Book Three” in April. As I mentioned last week, that definitely didn’t happen, not for a lack of trying but because I had some major writer’s block when it came to that particular WIP. Luckily, however, I’ve recently come up with a few ideas that I think will get the ball rolling, so to speak, so I intend to shift that mini-goal into May. Wish me luck!

  • Write 500,000 words throughout the year – In the meantime, while my mini-goal didn’t go over, I’ve still been writing plenty. I’ve been writing my fanfics, of course, but I also wrote a short from the world of “Nowhere to Hide” that I put up on my Patreon as an exclusive piece (more on that in a moment). All things totalled, I wrote 9513 words last week. My Pacemaker.press account was only looking for 7883 words, so that’s a pretty good week!
    .
  • Promote published books – I’ve still been promoting my social distancing sale of course, though the interest in that seems to have died down. Maybe I should make some new images for it or something… On other fronts, however, I’ve got a friend looking over the erotica I write under a pen name, because I’ll be ‘revealing’ and promoting that soon as well. While I’ll continue to publish those under the pen name for simplicity of keeping SFW and NSFW stuff separated, I don’t really see any point in hiding the fact that I write it, since I regularly promote my smutty fanfiction like it’s going out of style. If you don’t like it, don’t read it, that’s what I figure!
    .
  • Promote Patreon & exclusive content – As mentioned above, I recently posted an exclusive piece on my Patreon. It’s called “To Be Devoured” and it’s a short story from the world of my “Nowhere to Hide” novel. If you’ve read the book it’s an interesting little look at what happened behind the scenes of the news report from the opening chapter. So if you’re interested, check out my Patreon! ❤
    .
  • Work on Author social media – Social media was going okay for the first half of the week…then…you know, I don’t even really know what happened! I just kinda…stopped. It coincided with the days I took off from diet and exercise, so maybe my entire brain just decided to shut down and give up everything at once. Either way, the second half of the week saw me do basically nothing on social media. Yet, surprisingly, I still gained 1 follower on the Twitter account and 3 on the Instagram account. It must be those lovely Good Omens fans who are always tracking me down through my fanfics. XD
    .

Goal #3: Be a YouTuber

*SIGH*

  • Film/edit/upload – Okay, straight up, I totally intended to start filming this past week. And then everything broke. Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but first off, my old laptop (the one we use to record our audio) completely crapped out on itself. I’m not exactly sure what’s wrong but it just keeps going to a blue Windows-style boot screen with nothing else on it and it just stays there forever. I’ve tried booting a dozen different ways, including running pre-boot scans and going in under various BIOS settings, but it just will not do anything other than go to that screen.

So we eventually established that we’re just going to have to use Jason’s new computer for our audio (not a huge deal, but annoying since we’ll have to move it up and downstairs all the time since it’s also our editing computer). But then I tried the Snowball ICE microphone that the lovely miss Marie sent us a while back…and that wouldn’t bloody work. After a couple of days of troubleshooting we eventually established that this particular mic is no longer supported by the company for newer operating systems. For bloody hell’s sake.

It’s not the end of the world since we still have the old mic we were using, but between those two items I spent all week troubleshooting instead of actually getting into the filming, which is obviously frustrating.
    .

  • Promote and Interact (Social Media) – So if I couldn’t get any filming and whatnot done, I probably focused on the social media aspect, right?
    WRONG.
The channel social media accounts suffered the same fate as the author ones in the second half of the week. I guess my brain really did shut down. Quite stupid of me, but it’s in the past now and it’s time to look to the future! That said, the Twitter account stayed the same last week and the Instagram lost 5 followers. *epic groan*
    .
  • Expand website content – Yeah, no, still…uh. Shut up. I spent most of the week troubleshooting shit. Gimmi a break.
    .

Goal #4: Be Fun!

Bitch, I’ve never been MORE fun!

  • Read 50 books throughout the year – So I finished “Once Upon a Dream” from the Twisted Tales series, and I can officially state that I loved it. It was a bit different from what I was expecting, but all in all it was an interesting take on the Sleeping Beauty tale, and on a personal note I really appreciated how concepts of depression were handled in some of the later chapters. It really caught me by surprise and was, I feel, well done. I’ll definitely be reading through the rest of the series, but for the moment I might move on to something a little different. I’m feeling like I’m in a bit of a horror mood now. I might pick up one of the numerous unread Stephen King’s I have, though it might have to be one of his shorter ones for now. 😛
    .
  • Play video games – Gaming has been all over the place lately. I don’t know if it’s because I’m leaning more toward whatever Jason and Adrianna feel like playing, or because my brain just refuses to narrow in on any one particular thing in recent days. Either way I’ve played bits and pieces of SNES Classic games, “Borderlands 3”, “Katamari Forever” AND “Katamari ReRoll”, and the occasional round or two of “Resident Evil 3 Resistance”. Among all that nonsense, however, I finally managed to defeat that GODDAMN Katagawa Ball in “Borderlands 3”, so I might get some focus back on that one now that I’m not cursing its name.
    .
  • Watch shows/movies – We’ve been focusing more on movies than shows recently (although we’re still working on “Brooklyn 99” and just caught up the last two episodes of “Archer” that we realized we’d never watched), though most of them have been older b-movie fair that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. That said, we recently watched “TAG” on Netflix, which was awesome in my opinion, and just yesterday we watched “Villains” on Prime Video, which was not quite what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. We also watched some classic old horror like “Slumber Party Massacre” and some not-so-classic old horror like “Night Wish”, and I can vouch for them both if you’re a fan of slashers and/or weird-ass supernatural nonsense.

And that, as they say, is that! It was…well, to be honest it was kind of a shit week. Writing stuff stayed strong, and my media consumption has certainly been strong, but everything else was a total bust. Here’s hoping that the coming week proves more fruitful, what with starting P90X-2 and hopefully actually settling in to do some vid recording. Wish me luck!

How was your week? Any accomplishments you want to share? Goals you worked hard on? Feel free to share in the comments! ❤

“In Silence Our Secrets Lie” – A Good Omens FanFic – Chapter 13

Screenshot 2020-03-03 at 1.45.53 PM

As per the requests and/or expectations of several of my most dedicated readers on AO3, herein lies the chapter in which a brokenhearted angel has a few overly-emotional words with God. Can you blame him? Look at all that’s happened! The poor darling.

Check out “In Silence Our Secrets Lie” or any of the fanfiction on my AO3 page, and let me know what you think!

Plan & Goals 2020: Week 16 Review

weekinreview

Before we get into the bulk of the post today, I really feel like I ought to address the reality of the situation we woke up to in Nova Scotia this morning.

Yesterday, while my family and I were relaxing, playing some video games, Jason checked the news on his phone and found out that there was an active shooter situation currently happening in the Truro area. There were very few details being shared at the time, but it was definitely a shocking situation, especially considering we go to Truro fairly regularly when we’re out on our shopping trips. Jason kept an eye out for further info, but all we were really able to find out at the time was that there were victims in the hospital, and at least one of them was a police officer.

This morning we woke up to hear that Nova Scotia is now home to the deadliest mass shooting in Canadian history. There are a variety of slightly-conflicting reports going around and I don’t want to perpetuate inaccurate information, but we know that at least 17 people are dead, including at least one police officer, and the gunman was fatally shot when taken down by the police.

To say that I’m in shock is a bit of an understatement. It’s not to say that Nova Scotia is a beacon of sainthood, that bad things don’t happen here. But I’ve always thought of the province as a fairly calm place, all things considered. At the very least, mass-bloody-shootings do not happen here. Especially not the deadliest one in all of Canadian history.

My thoughts definitely go out to the victims and their families, and everyone affected by this senseless tragedy, and I want to offer this reminder to everyone reading this now… Live your life, tell your loved ones how much they matter to you, and take care of yourself, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Let’s not let the extremists of the world break our spirits, okay?

Okay.

*deep breath* Now that I’ve said my piece on that, I’m going to go ahead and try to go through this post like normal.

Goal #1: Be Healthier

There’s no easy way to say this: I am absolute shit at taking care of myself. Further explanation in the sub-goals below.

Eat better (and less) – This is my biggest issue right here, and I don’t really know what to do about it if I’m being honest. I just don’t seem to be capable of stopping myself from eating crappy food. And if that weren’t bad enough, the quantity is another major issue. It’s like when I start eating, I can’t stop. My hunger is goddamn insatiable. What’s that hormone that regulates your appetite? Because I’m starting to genuinely believe that I don’t have that bloody hormone. Either that, or my body doesn’t distribute it properly.

So, long story short, yeah…I haven’t been doing great when it comes to eating less and better food. My body just refuses to let me hold on to anything even resembling willpower. Any suggestions would honestly be rather graciously appreciated.
.

  • Drink more water – Herein is my only saving grace, but also a bit of a quandary. Isn’t drinking plenty of water supposed to help curb your appetite? Because that’s what they all say, but if it’s true it certainly doesn’t work for me! I’ve been drinking significantly more than what I need, and it certainly isn’t doing anything to curb any appetite. I call bullshit!
    .
  • Get more exercise – Exercise has been going as well as ever (except for yesterday, but, well, I’ll explain that later). The only problem is that it doesn’t seem to be doing me much good. As mentioned several weeks in a row now, I just don’t seem to be seeing any kind of results. I’ve been thinking of switching to P90X2 to see if a bit more of an intense workout would help, but the problem is that X2 actually requires a bit of equipment that I don’t have, like stability balls and foam rollers. I could, of course, just go out and get myself that stuff, but I don’t really know if I want to spend the money right now with everything that’s going on.
    .
  • Lose 2 lbs per month – As you can probably guess, I still haven’t actually lost any weight. I’ve gone down one or two pounds at one point or the other, only to go back up again. It is quite an incredible frustration.
    .

Goal #2: Be an Author

Firstly, a quick mention about that mini-goal I had mentioned a few weeks ago. I said that I was going to finish a draft of The Other World: Book Three, but that’s highly unlikely to happen at this point. Last week I mentioned a bout of writer’s block, and that’s definitely still part of the problem. Another part is that I’ve had plenty of ideas for other projects, so I’ve been working on those instead. Writing is writing, so it’s all good, but I definitely plan to retry this particular mini-goal in May.

  • Write 500,000 words throughout the year – Concerning the writing that did occur over the past week, I have to admit that I didn’t hit my Pacemaker.press goal this time around. I’m a bit perturbed with myself, but I was unable to find time to write all through Saturday and Sunday (for a few reasons, none of which matter to you guys), so overall I’m still pretty pleased with what I did pull off. Pacemaker wanted me to write 9479 words, and even with two days of effectively nothing I still managed to write a total of 7553 words. That’s nothing to sneeze at!
    .
  • Promote published books – As you can probably guess, I’ve still been promoting my 99 cent social distancing ebook sale. In fact, I submitted the sale to a few websites that promote such things, but I haven’t really seen any results from that. I also mentioned the sale, again, on our most recent livestream (more on that later), but again, I haven’t seen any results from that. I’m a bit perturbed about it, if I’m being honest. I don’t expect huge influxes of sales, but there’s been nothing now for a full week, and I’m starting to twitch.
    .
  • Promote Patreon & exclusive content – Baring having any book sales recently, something that’s pretty awesome is that I got a new Patron! So thank you again very much to Brandon for joining the Patreon crew. I haven’t had any Patron-exclusive content up yet this month, which I feel really bad about, but I now have ideas for two shorts – one from The Other World and one from Nowhere to Hide – so hopefully I’ll be able to get those up soon.
    .
  • Work on Author social media – Social media was up and down throughout the week. The weekend in particular was bad for communication, especially Sunday (more on that later), but the bulk of the week wasn’t too bad. More specifically I had a good bit of interaction on Instagram, especially when I posted the most recent chapter of In Silence My Secrets Lie. The Good Omens fandom really is the absolute best, I’m just sayin’.
Talking specific numbers, I gained two followers on the Twitter account and seven on the Instagram account over the week.
    .

Goal #3: Be a YouTuber

*cough cough* Okay, so, uh…I was actually supposed to break back into things today, as per discussions had on Saturday’s livestream, but as the result of a combination of sleeping in super-late and waking up to discover our province now has a brand shiny new murder record, the day turned into one of rest and relaxation. Sue me. We’ll start tomorrow. *crosses fingers behind back, just in case*

  • Film/edit/upload – So yeah, as you’ve most likely established, no videos have been filmed. We did have another livestream on the weekend, though, and during that livestream I talked about how I want to try to get back into the swing of things this coming week. It’s not going to be easy going, I’m sure, especially considering the extended period of time we’ve been off, so please bare with me if we don’t just come out with a huge slew of videos all at once. We’ll start slow and see where it goes.
Plus Jason has to learn a) how to deal with some features on his new laptop that are different than he’s used to, and b) learn the new version of Adobe Premiere that he got  for editing future videos. Soooo, even if we get some stuff filmed soon, they might not be available for viewing right away.
    .
  • Promote and Interact (Social Media) – Again I shall mention the livestream, because that was my big social interaction of the past week. Unfortunately everything else was a little on the slow side. The Twitter account stayed stagnant again, and the Instagram account (the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE) went back down four followers. I really don’t get the Instagram account AT. ALL. Maybe I should start posting pics of myself all sweaty in my exercise gear again. *epic eye roll*
That all said, funny enough the YouTube subscriber account has been going up (I guess people are finding us while being bored out of their minds on social distancing) and has recently hit 5005 subs. That’s pretty exciting, since we were hovering just below 5k for quite a while.
    .
  • Expand website content – Nothing to report here yet, but I’m hoping to start getting some new content up very soon, even if it’s just super-sort articles talking about new toys/collectibles/games/etc.
    .

Goal #4: Be Fun!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m fun AF.

  • Read 50 books throughout the year – So I had planned to take a bit of a break from prose-heavy stuff and focus for a little while on easier-to-consume stuff like manga. In the end I would up reading precisely one manga (the second volume of Food Wars, which is awesome by the way) before deciding that I was in the mood for some young adult fantasy. Thus, I dove into the first book in the Disney’s Twisted Tales series, “Once Upon a Dream”, which is a retelling of what happened after Prince Phillip killed the dragon and kissed Sleeping Beauty. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with this series, but since I’m approximately 2/3 of the way through the book already I’m going to go ahead and say I’m pleased with it. It’s not quite as “twisted” as I was imagining, but it’s hardly a children’s story either. There’s murder in it, for instance, but the relationship between Aurora and Phillip is also super sweet and adorable. All in all it’s an interesting take and I’m rather enjoying it. I can’t wait to check out the rest of the series as well.
    .
  • Play video games – I spent most of my gaming time this past week picking out the occasional round of Resident Evil 3 Remake: Resistance. I don’t know why I keep going back to it, to be honest. All the rounds are rather samey, and it’s at the point now that anyone with even a tiny bit of Mastermind experience will absolutely murder a squad of survivors, but for some reason I still find it amusing. And besides, it kinda bugs me that we don’t have those trophies yet. Jason ‘platinumed’ the main game, but is unlikely to bother with the multiplayer, so if those trophies are going to be obtained, it’s going to be me who does it. Yikes.

On a totally different topic, though, Jason and I started going through some of the many, MANY games backlogged from the past few years of PS Plus freebies. We tried out a game called ‘Foul Play’ which is a cute little two-person beat-em-up, and it was rather enjoyable. We also booted up ‘Day of the Tentacle’, which is a successor to the old point-and-click ‘Maniac Mansion’ game, and we spent the last couple of days working our way through that as a team. It was lots of fun, if not occasionally rather frustrating. 😛
    .

  • Watch shows/movies – Aside from continuing on with ‘Brooklyn 99’ on Netflix and checking out the most recent two episodes of the Harley Quinn animated series, we haven’t really been watching much of any incidence. There were a few old groaner-type b-movies, including one called ‘Death Wish’ that really has to be seen to be believed, but nothing new or major as we’ve been more distracted by things like video games for our spare time. That said, in the coming week I’d like to finally get around to watching ‘Tag’, which we noticed the other day is on Netflix, plus the last two episodes of ‘The Witcher’ that I need to finish off, and if I find the time I’d like to watch some more of ‘Prodigal Son’ because I thought the first episode was brilliant. Wish me luck and time!

So that about covers week 16, which ended on the rather depressing and terrifying note I spoke about in the beginning of this post. All in all it would have been a decent enough week aside from that absolutely horrifying situation, but as I said in the beginning, we can’t let these kinds of events destroy us. Keep living, keep loving, and keep moving forward in the best way you know how. It’s all we can do.

How was your week? Any accomplishments you want to share? Goals you worked hard on? Feel free to share in the comments! ❤

Plan & Goals 2020: Week 15 Review

weekinreview

Happy Monday everyone! Not that Mondays really mean anything right now, in these days of “just stay the fuck home”, but you can still have a happy one, right? Right!

A few random things to mention before I get into the meat of the post:

-This past weekend was my birthday! I am now the ripe old age of 36, which doesn’t really feel any different from 35, except for the fact that I realize I’m one year closer to 40, and damn if that number doesn’t sound horrible to me. That said, I managed to have a great day despite social distancing, and I want to give a big, loving shout-out to all the awesome people who hung out with me during my livestream on Instagram (more on that later).

-A few days ago I woke up with a sore neck, and it’s still driving me foolish, so I’d appreciate any advice y’all might have. I’ve been using a Magic Bag and painkillers when necessary, and doing regular gentle stretches, but it doesn’t seem to be getting better and it’s starting to really frustrate me.

-I hope you all had an awesome Easter, even if you couldn’t celebrate the way you normally do! We had an egg hunt in the house with Adrianna, and she got a few fun toys, like a dual-wield set of Nerf guns that I IMMEDIATELY loaded and shot at her, because I’m an awesome mom, period. 😛

Okay, I think that’s it, so let’s get into the main post!

Goal #1: Be Healthier

I was doing okay for the majority of last week when it came to being healthy, but everything kinda went downhill on me around Friday or so. In my defence, Saturday was my birthday and it’s totally unreasonable not to expect someone to eat and drink and be-fucking-merry on their birthday, so I’m sure you’ll forgive me my little indiscretions.

  • Eat better (and less) – Yeah, so, like I just said, I did okay for the majority of the week, but from Friday evening through to Sunday night I totally gave up in favor of enjoying my birthday weekend. That means cake, Easter candy, fattening food cooked by my husband, and alcohol. Definitely the exact opposite of what I’m supposed to be doing, but hopefully I’ve got it out of my system now and can be better again this week.
    .
  • Drink more water – Still no issues here. Sometimes I forget to drink water if I’ve been gorging on coffee, but overwhelmingly-speaking, I’ve been drinking tons of H2O and feeling great for it.
    .
  • Get more exercise – I’ve now completed seven weeks of P90X and am going strong. I’ll admit that I skipped Sunday’s workout after waking up rather hungover. but I’ll make up for it sometime throughout this week.
While it’s hardly noticeable, I think I’m finally starting to see some results, at least in speaking of my personal capabilities. I’m finding the weights I use are actually starting to feel too light for certain moves, and the cardio-centric workouts don’t exhaust me like they used to.
I still have six more weeks of P90X, but I’m already thinking about jumping right into P90X2 when it’s all over. I’ll have to look into it, but I figure if I can survive the original X, I shouldn’t have any problem segueing into X2.
    .
  • Lose 2 lbs per month – Grrrr….I don’t even want to talk about it. Suffice it to say that, NO, I haven’t been losing weight, and it’s starting to piss me off.
    .

Goal #2: Be an Author

You may recall that in last week’s post I mentioned a mini-goal of finishing the first draft of The Other World: Book Three by the end of April. That’s turning out to be a bit more difficult than I had imagined because I keep getting writer’s block something fierce. I have lots of awesome scenes worked out for the book, so I could theoretically jump to those and just write what I’ve already got figured out, but a lot of the in-between bits are really flummoxing me. Maybe I need to re-read Books One and Two to get myself back in the right mindset…

  • Write 500,000 words throughout the year – Anyway, even though I’m having writer’s block concerning Book Three, that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been writing. I’ve still been writing tons, and I’m totally proud of myself for it. For week 15 my Pacemaker.press account wanted me to write 9407 words. I didn’t absolutely demolish that number like I have on previous weeks, but I still beat it with a week’s word count of 10,298. The overwhelming majority of that was for “In Silence Our Secrets Lie“, which continues to get me so many absolutely wonderful comments that it may be my favorite thing I’ve ever written. Too bad it’s not publishable! Oh well, I’m still having fun, and people are reading it, which is bloody awesome.
    .
  • Promote published books – I’ve slacked off a bit recently, but I’m still promoting my ‘social distancing sale’ of having all three ebooks reduced to 99 cents each. Sales haven’t been outstanding or anything, but just the fact that I’m seeing sales is actually great compared to previous months, so I’ll take it.
    .
  • Promote Patreon & exclusive content – I haven’t put up any Patreon-exclulsive content yet this week, but I have started sharing the other stuff I do on the account in order to keep it fresh and active. Not sure why I wasn’t doing that to begin with, to be honest.
That said, I’ve got an idea for an exclusive ‘The Other World’ short story; I just have to figure out exactly how I want to write it…
    .
  • Work on Author social media – Social media engagement was up and down throughout the week, but ultimately fell on the positive side of things. I gained one follower on Twitter, and five on Instagram, and I’ve been getting lots of comments and the like on my Instagram posts in particular. I also got a couple more fan-art pieces based on my Good Omens stuff, so that was pretty awesome! I’ll share them here in a separate post later on. 🙂
    .

Goal #3: Be a YouTuber

As I already mentioned above, I did another livestream on my birthday, and it was lots of fun again. This time Jason and I ended up getting a litttttttttle bit drunk, and near the end of the night I had a bit of a rant about how, overwhelmingly, the fact that we haven’t gotten back into YouTube has been my fault. So. Yeah. There’s that!

  • Film/edit/upload – That said, filming has not yet resumed, but I’m really, genuinely hoping to do so this week. Unfortunately I had to deconstruct our filming table so I can wash the cover-up sheet (it stops the table from glaring under our lighting) because I spilled whiskey all over it during the livestream. But I’ll get that back together soon, and hopefully the audio laptop manages to hold on to life a bit longer.
    .
  • Promote and Interact (Social Media) – Again I mention the livestream! If that’s not interacting with social media, I don’t know what is. All in all though, it was a quiet week for the channel’s accounts. I gained a follower on Twitter, and the Instagram account stayed the same. But hey, at least there were no losses!
    .
  • Expand website content – I will once again repeat that there will likely not be new website content until we get filming again. That said, I’m going to start trying to post some short, toys-and-collectibles-related content that doesn’t apply to videos specifically. For instance, there are a few companies who are doing major quarantine sales and/or running their own little socially-distanced conventions, so I can promote those! Good idea? Let me know what you think!

Goal #4: Be Fun!

I think we’ve established by now that I’m fun as shit. Right? Don’t you dare disagree with me, you brats!

  • Read 50 books throughout the year – So in the past week I finished the Good Omens Script Book (love!) and started reading the second issue of the Food Wars manga. Honestly, I should have gotten more reading in throughout the week, but I’ll admit to finding a ‘Beauty and the Beast’-style Good Omens AU fanfiction and getting hooked on it. *cough cough* I swear, if I could count fanfictions as part of my Goodreads challenge, I’d be KILLING it.
    .
  • Play video games – First off, I need to mention that Jason and I have been paying Tetris Attacks on our SNES Classic. And the main reason I want to mention that is because I overwhelmingly KICK HIS ASS at that game, and I’m loving it. lol I’m very rarely the better gamer at anything, so just give me this one, okay?
The other game I’ve been playing over the past week is Resident Evil 3 Remake: Resistance. Jason had been playing the main single-player campaign, while I’ve been playing the online multiplayer option. Though there are definitely improvements that could be made, I personally like it. The main issue is definitely the matchmaking. You can play as the human survivors or the evil “Mastermind”, but Capcom made a stupid (in my opinion) decision to allow you to choose which one you want to play as. Most people prefer the Mastermind option, but since there’s only one of them per match (as compared to four human survivors), if everyone is trying to be the Mastermind it makes matchmaking impossible. I personally have just been choosing the “random” option, and the result is that I haven’t been the Mastermind once yet. That’s kinda ridiculous with how many matches I’ve played already. So, basically, my advice to Capcom is to patch out the option to choose which you want to play as. Make it random the way the Friday the 13th game was, and you make it significantly more fair for everyone involved.

  • Watch shows/movies – Shows and movies have tapered off in favor of games, but we’ve been binging the hell out of Brooklyn 99 recently. Sooooo funny, I honestly never get sick of it. In the coming week, however, I’d like to get back to some movies while we’ve got the time. Specifically I’ve been wanting to see “Tag”, but I keep forgetting about it. 😛

So that’s that, basically! It was a decent week, despite some overindulgence on food and alcohol, and things in general seem to be doing okay. I hope you are all doing well, that you’re staying safe and sane and healthy, and that you continue to do so! Let’s get through this thing!

How was your week? Any accomplishments you want to share? Goals you worked hard on? Feel free to share in the comments! ❤
