Plans & Goals 2021: Week 12

You guys…you guys…you guys… How is it nearly April? Just…how? I am genuinely flabbergasted by this turn of events. We are nearly a quarter of the way through 2021! Just…just fucking amazing. That is all.

Also, that whole thing with the boat being stuck in the Suez Canal? It’s strangely heartwarming to me that the entire planet just took that and ran with it. Like, genuinely fucking ran with it.

Anyway…

The past week has been…I mean, it existed, that’s for sure. It most certainly did exist. I’m just not entirely sure that I existed within it. I suppose the only way I’ll know for sure is to look back and try to ascertain as to whether anything actually occurred during those seven days. Come along with me, will you?

Health

Okay, so right off the bat, I’m going to give myself at least a small modicum of props, because I managed to survive the first full week of the official ‘Morning Meltdown 100’ videos. I’m not going to lie: a few of them were hard. I most definitely had to resort to easier options here and there. But I also tried my hardest to not make adjustments, and I think the results have been fairly decent so far. I’m not looking specifically at weight or other body measurements yet, because I know that my body is currently in that weird state of trying to burn fat and also trying to build muscle, while also trying to understand why I’m putting it through this fresh new wave of hell. But looking past that, I do feel like things are going well so far. Here’s hoping that by the time I hit the end of April (which will put me close to halfway through the program) I’ll be properly seeing some results.

Of course, that’s going to partially depend on my ability to stay the fuck out of the junk food, and that is a whole other story. Don’t judge me.

In all seriousness, I am trying to be good; I’m drinking lots of water, and doing my best to incorporate lots of fruits and veggies. It’s just also difficult to avoid baked goods and the occasional giant bag of chips while watching the hockey game.

No, really, don’t judge me.

Creativity

On the artistic side of things, I didn’t do much last week because I was more focused on other things. I did, however, throw together one piece while we were watching the hockey game on Saturday, and I was quite pleased with how it turned out. I had meant to draw something cute and fluffy, but, uh…somehow it ended up becoming this instead:

What can I say? I’m an enormous sucker for Crowley in a collar. And my followers seem to be lapping it up, so I don’t think I’ll try too hard to stop any time soon. 😛

On the writing side of things, I’ve been rather eclectic with my word counts of late. My numbers have been good, at least as far as my Pacemaker.press goals are concerned. Pacemaker wanted me to write 8086 words last week, and I hit a total of 8993 by the end. Where those numbers have been going is what’s a little messy…four different fanfics, plus ‘The Other World: Book Three’…so five different pieces at once. Yeah…is it any wonder it takes me so long to finish anything?

I’ve been having a really hard time focusing recently though. I’ll write a couple of paragraphs of something, and then my mind will wander, but I’ll manage to scribble a few paragraphs of something else, before I get distracted again, and…well, you get the idea. I suppose the important thing is that I’m writing. And I am 22% of the way through my word count goal for 2021, so that’s nice!

Productivity

What is productivity, really? 😛

If you look at the world of adulting, I can’t really say a whole lot. Most of my time in that category is spent looking for work, cooking, or shopping for food with which to cook.

From a self-promotion standpoint I’m a bit…meh? I seem to have an easier time promoting things like my Ko-Fi and Patreon than I do promoting my books, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to more success. :\

I’ve been trying to get a focus back on to the YouTube channel, but that’s been strained for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that the basement is still colder than a witch’s tit in the dead of winter.

So, as usual, the only thing I really have left to look at is the social media stuff, which has been…*shrug*…okay? I guess? The YouTube Twitter gained six followers last week, which was a pleasant surprise, but the Instagram lost one. Meanwhile the Author Twitter lost two followers, which was was an annoying surprise, but the Instagram gained three, so…okay?

Honestly, it’s a bit exhausting looking at those numbers all the time and seeing no real growth. I may just chop this entire section out of my weekly posts before long.

Down-Time

And then there is the precious, precious downtime.

I believe I may have mentioned last week that I’ve begun reading the first of the “Witcher” series: “Blood of Elves”. I haven’t gotten very far yet, but that’s partially because the first chapter of the first book is about 80 bloody pages long. lol I think I’m going to enjoy it though. That said, I’m very curious as to why, when the books were translated, someone felt the need to change Jaskier’s name to ‘Dandelion’. Like…just…why? It’s not as though there aren’t tons of other interesting and foreign-sounding names in the book…and yet ‘Jaskier’ was picked on for some reason. I’m bewildered by this.

We haven’t been watching a whole lot recently, though we did just start the final season of ‘Attack on Titan’ the other day. We were totally lost for the first few episodes. A lot of it comes together as the season goes on, but damned if I didn’t feel like my head was going to explode at first, given the sudden delving into the lives of previously completely unknown characters. Once we’ve finished binging the series I’m going to go through all the manga and see if I can make some sense of some of the stuff that’s just…not.

And then there are video games! Easy report here: I’ve been playing ‘Borderlands 3’ whenever I can kick Jason off the Playstation. I had honestly thought that I was approaching end game early last week, and then all of a sudden I was on a new planet with a buttload of stuff on it, so at this point I have no idea how much is actually left. I’m having a blast murdering the universe though, so it’s all good!

And there we have it! Having now gone through all the categories, I feel confident that I did, in fact, exist last week. That’s not to say that I really accomplished anything major, but hey, I existed! Go me!

Yeah, my standards are getting lower and lower with each passing week. Join me at the bottom, my friends!

Feel free to let me know how your year is going so far! Do you have any big goals? Specific plans? Anything awesome on the horizon? Share what’s going on with you! ❤

“The Scent of Desire” – Chapter 21 [A Good Omens AU]

This story was supposed to be ending, but I love it so much, and you guys wanted more, so I guess it’s not quite over yet! For your absolutely astounding levels of support, have some fluffy love and sweet love-making! 😀

Enjoy, my loves!

Plans & Goals 2021: Week 11

Is it seriously Monday again already? Where does the time go, my friends? I honestly don’t know!

That said, it is a good Monday. For me, at least! There’s no overwhelming specific reasons for it to be a good Monday, but the sun is shining, and the weather has gotten significantly warmer, and I’m hearing whispers here and there about potential work, so…yeah. I’m in a good mood!

That said, I did a lot of exercising this morning, which has worn me out thoroughly, and as a result my brain is having a hard time functioning (am I old enough to reasonably take naps throughout the day?), so this post probably won’t be all that involved. I’m certain you won’t be overly annoyed with that fact.

So here we go!

Health

I’m not going to lie: I hated myself when I hopped on the scale yesterday morning. That may seem like a bit of an overreaction, but given the fact that I’d gained back several pounds and gone absolutely nowhere concerning body measurements, can you really blame me all that much?

Food was a huge enemy last week. I know, reasonably, that my own lack of willpower is mostly to blame, but I would like to also go on record saying that the Depo Provera shot is absolutely an evil thing that makes me properly drool for salty snacks and sweets for several weeks after getting it. Now, I’m not a doctor, and maybe my previous statement makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but it certainly feels correct. I swear, whenever I get a new shot, I spend nearly the entire next month feeling like I desperately need to shovel as many carbs in my face as humanly possible. Add to that the fact that we multiple get-together’s at a friend’s house over March Break, and the result was far too many bags of chips, cookies, gummy candies, and so forth, culminating in a complete reversal of previous accomplishments.

On the exercise side of things, I won’t say that I did poorly, just that I’m doing better now. Last week I finished off the ‘prep’ package of videos for ‘Morning Meltdown 100) and this week (as of yesterday) I am officially on the proper videos. The first one – a Cardio one – very nearly gave me a bloody heart attack, while the one this morning was significantly easier, but also very hard on the arms. They’re good though; I’m enjoying the program so far. Between the bubbly, encouraging host, the catchy background music, and the fact that there’s a group of people exercising along with who range from skinny-and-flat-chested to overweight-but-trying-like-hell, it’s just a pleasant set of videos so far. Here’s hoping that my enthusiasm continues.

On a related note, remember earlier when I mentioned that the sun was shining and the weather was getting much warmer? Yeah…getting back to going for walks, baby! As of the writing of this paragraph (which, admittedly, is nearly seven hours after I started this post…*cough cough*), I have 10,787 steps today. YES, let’s keep that shit up!

Creativity

Normally I start with the art side of things, but I want to start with writing this week, simply because I shamed my Pacemaker.press goal last week and want to redeem myself. For this past week, Pacemaker wanted me to write 8179 words, and I did a bit better with 8720 words. That makes me happy right off the bat, but what makes me even more pleased with myself is that roughly 3k of those words went right toward Book Three. I’ve still got a hell of a long way to go, but a few things are starting to flow, which is obviously moving in the right direction. I may actually finish the damn thing sometime this century!

In other writing-based news, I’ve decided to extend “The Scent of Desire”, which has proven to be a much more popular fanfic than I was ever expecting it to be. The chapter that just went up on my Patreon this morning was originally meant to be the final one (plus an epilogue), but after conversing with a few Patrons and considering the options, I decided that the story has at least a few more chapters in it. That said, I’d been working toward beginning to post “The Prince’s Consort”, which will be my new weekly fic, and I believe I’m still going to start that shortly, rather than waiting until “Scent” is fully complete. I’ve got four chapters of “Consort” written already, so that’s four weeks worth of posts before I have to worry about my ability to keep up, and fanfic has hardly been an issue to write lately, so…we’ll see what happens, I suppose!

Returning to visual art, I definitely did some creating last week…but it’s all NSFW stuff. lol Thus, the full images will only be available on my Patreon, but I’ll share the thumbnails that I used for my social media here so you all have an idea of what the pics entail…

Firstly, I did a digital redraw of a pic I’d sketched out for a “Draw this in your style” challenge I did a while back, and even took the initiative to try coloring it, and I’m quite pleased overall with how it turned out:

Coloring has always been a bit of a blind spot for me, artistically, because my brain just doesn’t seem to want to understand light and shadows, but all things considered, I think this one turned out really well.

Next, we have a bit more shibari, because apparently a particular snake-eyed demon being tied up and helpless is my sexuality now, don’t judge me:

Regarding this one: drawing all those knots is a massive pain in the arse, but well worth it because I am quite fond of how this one turned out. *cough cough*

And finally, we have my first ever attempt at drawing actual, in-progress, completely NSFW sex…but for the record it’s also quite warm and fuzzy and soft because my celestial boys are meant to be, okay, you heard me!

I’m just…just really, really happy with this one, you guys. Genuinely, ridiculously happy. I was worried it was going to be absolutely awful, judging by the first rough sketch, but I was grinning like a lunatic by the time it was done. Absolutely pleased.

And with that all said and shown, I would like to take a moment to remind you all that I am currently taking commissions over on my Ko-Fi page, and would love to hear what ideas you might have for art that I can create for you. Currently all money made is going into a fund to help with car payments, after the absolute disaster that was our old car nearly exploding on us. o_o So if you’ve got any ideas you’d like me to throw myself at, please let me know!

Productivity

Every year I have one goal category that actually makes no sense whatsoever and is nearly impossible to report on. Why do I do these things to myself?

For the sake of saying something, I will insist that I actually got a ton done last week, even if it was mostly self-imposed writing and things like laundry. Let me have my moments.

When it comes to the social media stuff, however, I was practically a hermit all week. I barely posted anything on either Instagram, and was mostly absent on Twitter as well, with Snapchat and Facebook barely occupying a fart’s worth of brainpower in my head…

…which makes it all the more flabbergasting that the numbers were almost entirely positive this week. *raised eyebrow*

Seriously…the YouTube Twitter account gained three followers, and the Instagram gained two, while the Author Twitter gained five. The only thing that went down was the Author Instagram, which lost two followers.

So…should I just…keep being a hermit? Because apparently that works a lot better for me than actually putting in the effort. 😐

Down-Time

Finally, we have the fun section, and phew…there’s actually a fair bit to report! I mean, it was March Break, and my kid spent almost the entirety of it visiting family, so I had some time on my hands. *cough*

Firstly we have books, in which I devoured “The Book of Lost Things”. It’s not an overly long book, so it was pretty easy to consume, but it was also surprisingly dark, depressing, and deep. It comes off as a book for older kids – say, preteen age – and I do think that’s the intended audience, but all in all it’s plenty horrifying enough for an older audience too. I don’t really want to say too much, but suffice it to say that a lot of blood is spilled and the child main character goes through a hell of a lot. Well worth a read, believe me.

And before we move on from books I’ll mention that the one I’ve jumped into now is “Blood of the Elves”, which is the first in the “Witcher” series. I’m not even a full chapter in at this point, but I’m expecting to enjoy them for sure…

…because I love the show. See what I did there?

Backing up a bit, I’d watched the majority of the first season of the show a while back, but got distracted away from it and never finished it. Over the past week I’ve been rewatching, to remind myself of everything that happens, with the expectation that I’ll finish it off shortly. It’s a great show, and Henry Caville is just bloody perfect as Geralt, that’s all I’m going to say.

In other “watching” news, Jason and I watched the Snyder Cut of “Justice League” a few nights ago, and despite the length of it very nearly breaking me, it was absolutely excellent. It still has its issues, for sure, but it’s not even comparable to the original cut. The story flows much better, certain scenes make a ton more sense, and the overall presentation was just heads and shoulders above the original cut. If you’re a DC fan, this is likely the one for you. Just make sure you go to the washroom, and gather up lots of snacks before you settle in to watch it.

And then we have video games, and here is probably the most surprising thing…I completed two of them last week! One was “Jedi: Fallen Order”, finally, and the other was a strange little puzzle game/walking sim called “Maquette”. It had a very interesting mechanic that’s pretty much impossible to describe, other than to say that you’re manipulating a little world, that’s inside in a larger copy of that world, that’s inside an even larger copy of that world. It really…just can’t be explained. But if you enjoy short games that tell an emotional story and also have a mild puzzle-solving element, you should give it a try. Just be sure to look up some vids to help you when it’s time to do the speed run, or you’ll put your head through a wall with rage; those time limits are ridiculously tight.

Annnnnnnd, geez…I honestly didn’t expect this post to end up as long as it did. See, I always think I’m not going to write that much and then I start vomiting words, and here we end up. Ha! It’s alright, you guys like listening to me babble on about nothing, right? RIGHT?! *EXCESSIVE COUGHING*

Feel free to let me know how your year is going so far! Do you have any big goals? Specific plans? Anything awesome on the horizon? Share what’s going on with you! ❤

“The Scent of Desire” – Chapter 20 [A Good Omens AU]

Here comes my apology for last week’s update, my loves. ^_~

And with this chapter comes a request for opinions. My original vision for this fic had it ending here, after a short epilogue to tie up some loose ends. But now that I’m here, I find myself open to the idea of writing a bit more… What do you think? Is this a good place to stop? Or should I indulge a bit longer? ❤

Plans & Goals 2021: Week 10

What even was last week? That is the question I ask you on this, the Ides of March. Because, quite honestly, I haven’t the foggiest.

Without going into any kind of full-on sook-fest mode, the past week just fell away from me in a number of ways. That’s not to say that I got nothing done, or that it was an overly bad week, but I’m having a hard time even thinking about it, as though my subconscious has decided that something about it requires blocking out. My brain simply doesn’t want to recall further back than roughly Thursday night. Perhaps I’m broken. Perhaps my approaching 37th birthday is the one that will signal the slow, and eventually complete, shutdown of all my mental faculties. Perhaps I just rather enjoy being stupidly dramatic for no particular reason.

Whichever way you want to look at it, this is probably not going to be an overly long post, simply because I can’t seem to remember enough of what happened last week in order to flesh it out. So let’s just…get it over with, I suppose.

Health

It was a week of ups and downs, for sure, even if I can’t quite remember precisely what those ups and downs were.

Speaking in terms of food, I can’t honestly say that I did a great – or even decent job of curbing my cravings over the past week. One problem was the social factor of having two nights out with friends, and also having my parents visit on the weekend. I always find it nigh on impossible not to eat junk food when in a social setting. I’ll either bake for guests (and then indulge along with them) or find myself nibbling on whatever snacks a host provides, and if there’s liquor involved it’s a guarantee that I’m going to pig out on something…likely multiple somethings. I did my best to offset in other ways, but I won’t claim that I didn’t basically fail in an incredibly hardcore way. Food continues to be my most ultimate weakness, and one that basically dissolves my willpower like acid.

Meanwhile, we have the exercise aspect. Here I can say that I did well, in a sense – I completed another week of Morning Meltdown 100 prep videos, bringing me to only one week away from starting the actual core program. On a related note, however, I do have to say that I’ve really been feeling those exercises, and not necessarily in a pleasant way. The cardio one in particular makes me feel like I’m going to pass out from being unable to breathe properly, which obviously makes me a bit concerned for the full cardio vid, which is about double the length. Basically, I just have a strong feeling that moving into the actual program is going to practically kill me. That said, even with the threat of asphyxiation, I’ve been enjoying the videos so far. Being able to work-out to the beat is really helpful, and I like the way each exercise changes, advances, and doesn’t last long enough for you to get sick of doing it. I get bored easily when it comes to repeating the same move over and over again, so I think I really hit the jackpot with this particular program.

One other thing to add, and it’s more of an inquiry than anything… Even when I’m doing poorly, I’ve been eating pretty well, exercising daily, and getting more sleep and drinking more water than I ever have before…and yet I always look (and regularly feel) exhausted. I’ve constantly got dark circles under my eyes, and if I’m forced to focus on anything for a significant period of time (think, trying to write a chapter, or sitting down and watching a movie) I end up drifting and feeling like my eyes are burning. Anyone have any thoughts?

Creativity

Last week I showed you the two little ineffable cuties that I drew for use as tier-images on my Patreon. Since then I’ve combined the two to create a third image for the highest tier, and I’m pretty enamoured with it, myself.

Aren’t they cuuuuuuute? ❤ I love little chibi things, even though I don’t really draw them that often. ^_^

That’s not the only thing that I accomplished creatively last week, however. I also finished up this sketch, which I’m quite happy with and seriously considering attempting to color (even though coloring is my major weakness).

It was a bit of a weird pose to deal with, but I think it came out pretty well in the end! If I do end up attempting to color it, I’ll be sharing updates on my Patreon, which I expect will be mostly a lot of profanity on my end as I try and fail to figure out how the hell to properly portray lighting and shadows. 😛

I’ve also recently begun a redraw of an older sketch that I’d previously done for a DTIYS challenge on Instagram. I was happy with the sketch, but I did it back before I got my drawing tablet and thought it would be interesting to re-do it in a digital format. Who knows, maybe I”ll even try to color that one too! If you want to see the eventual results of that one, however, you’ll have to head over to my Patreon, as it is a NSFW piece that will not get shared on this site.

Concerning the writing side of creativity…*cough cough* I mean, it’s not like I completely wasted the week or anything like that, but as far as my Pacemaker.press account is concerned, I did an incredibly poor job of keeping on track. Pacemaker wanted me to finish out the week with a total of 13,467 words. I came well shy of that with only 8039 words. I mean, to be fair, that’s still a pretty damn decent word count for the week, and that’s taking into consideration that I had company on the weekend, and spent a couple of nights otherwise occupied, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still a bit disappointed in myself.

Adding to that disappointment is the fact that I didn’t write a single word toward The Other World: Book Three. And I’m not even going to make any excuses for that one. I’m just going to admit it and move on.

Productivity

Psh…I don’t even want to bother with this one this week. Let’s just quickly look at the social media numbers and move on.

The two YouTube accounts cancelled themselves out, effectively, with the Twitter losing one follower and the Instagram gaining one. The Author Twitter remained precisely where it was last week, and the Instagram is the big winner this week with a gain of seven followers. I’m not sure exactly what I did to warrant that, considering that I was pretty damn absent on all platforms last week, but I suppose I’ll take it.

Down-Time

First off, let me lift my hands into the air and state that I finally, finally, finished Darkdawn! It was absolutely excellent, and I was pretty well satisfied with the ending, and I definitely recommend the entire series, especially if you enjoy violence and smut.

I’ve moved on to a much shorter and easier-to-consume book that was loaned to me by a friend: The Book of Lost things by John Connoly. It’s interesting so far and definitely has a few things to express about mental and emotional issues. I don’t expect that it will take me long to breeze through this one.

In the world of video games, I did play some more Jedi: Fallen Order, but I haven’t quite finished it yet. I’m pretty much right at the end now, but the final (sorta) boss is kicking my bloody ass. Jason keeps telling me that I just have to learn her patterns and whatnot, and I’m over here thinking, “No shit. Very helpful” in a tone that is far too ignorant, but impossible to restrain.

I have established that once I manage to beat that bitch’s ass, I’m going to move back to Borderlands 3 and finish that one off. I think I was pretty close to end game there as well.

Concerning movies and shows, we haven’t watched a whole lot lately. We found Impractical Jokers on Netflix and started watching that during suppertime, and we finished the last few episodes of The History of Swearing, but I think that was pretty much it. We did show Adrianna both Back to the Future and Happy Gilmour, and she seemed to enjoy them both, so that was nice. 🙂

Okay, so it wasn’t as short a post as expected, but whatever. 😛 That was the tenth week of 2021, and now I’m off to try to beat the chill in the air by snuggling up under a blanket with The Book of Lost Things. To everyone else, enjoy the rest of your Monday!
