Saying Goodbye to the Goals of 2019! (Week 52 in Review)

plansandgoals2019weeklyreview

It’s finally that time, you guys. It’s time to look through 2019 and see what I made of my goals for the year. I won’t lie: there were definitely some failures and absolutely some very weak attempts, but there was also awesomeness as well. So first off, let’s take a quick look at what happened in week 52, the final week of the year:

Goal #1: Write half a million words.

I fully understood that writing was going to take a major back-burner on this last week; I mean, come on you guys…it was Christmas! But I also actually ended up writing a lot more than I was expecting to. I was determined to finish off my Ineffable Advent without missing any days, so I managed to find moments here and there and wrote as fast as I could. I can’t speak to the quality of the pieces, but the lovely people over at AO3 seem to have enjoyed them so I guess I did okay!

Long story short, I ended up writing 10,979 words right at the end of the year, which was pretty wicked in my opinion.

  • Goal #1a: Write at least a quarter million fictional words.  What’s even better than managing to write 11k words throughout the holidays is the fact that just under 10k of them (9956 words) were fictional ones! Once again we have my Ineffable Advent to thank for that one. I was plucking away like a maniac, let me tell you.

Goal #2: Read at least 50 books.

You’re probably going to laugh at me for this one…but I didn’t end up finishing A Christmas Carol. <<insert laughing/embarrassed emoji here>>

I definitely intended to, but every time I found a few moments during which I could read I chose to write instead. 😐 I trust you’ll forgive me for that one. One of these years I’m going to get through that book, I swear. lol

Goal #3: Build my social media communities…EVERYWHERE!

Social media usage slowed down as the holidays took over, although I still posted some stuff here and there as we celebrated together. Reasonably, viewing of social media was also down, but honestly? I think that’s a good thing. We shouldn’t be screwing around on our phones when we should be enjoying time with friends and family.

Last week’s numbers are as follows:

  • The YouTube channel went up 5 followers
  • The YouTube Twitter account stayed the same
  • The YouTube Instagram went down 4 followers
  • The Snapchat account’s score stayed the same
  • The Author Twitter account stayed the same
  • The Author Instagram account gained 1 follower

Basically another steady week with little to no movement in any direction. Except for five random new YouTube subscribers which, I have to admit, confuses me a tad. But hey, I’ll take it!

Goal #4: Play more (proper) video games.

I did play some games during the last week of the year! For one thing, Jason got me the Mana collection for the Switch, and I immediately delved into Secret of Mana because that game is nostalgia in a cartridge for me. For another thing I got Jason Mortal Kombat 11 and spent some time playing that with him. For ANOTHER we had company and ended up playing Smash Bros on the Switch for several hours. It was all a very good time. 🙂

Goal #5: Put more time, focus, and energy into the YouTube channel.

There’s no pussyfooting around this one. YouTube was plainly and simply set aside until after the holidays. And since I’m currently in the process of flying back out West for work again (don’t worry, it’s only two weeks this time) there won’t be much done now until at least mid-January, unless Jason feels like filming some stuff on his own.

OKAY! So that’s how the final week of 2019 went, but how did 2019 in GENERAL go? Let’s take a look at the broad numbers!

Goal #1: Write half a million words.

The official word count total for all of 2019 is a whopping 472,304 words. WOO! It sucks that I petered off at the end so close to the actual goal, but as I mentioned in previous posts I am still more than pleased with these results. This is far, far more than I’ve ever written in a calendar year before, so I’m exceptionally proud of myself. I can only hope to continue this kind of pace into the new year (and decade)!

  • Goal #1a: Write at least a quarter million fictional words.  Okay, so I finally went back through all the numbers from throughout the year and did the calculations…and, you guys, I murdered this goal. I was fully expecting to pull this one off with the amount of fiction I’ve been writing these past months, but I didn’t expect it to be such a blow-out! It turns out that I wrote 347,105 fictional words in 2019. That’s nearly six short novels worth! Hot DAMN, right? ❤

Goal #2: Read at least 50 books.

As far as Goodreads is concerned, I only read 40 books last year. That’s still quite decent, but also means that I failed my Goodreads challenge.

That said, a very quick skim through the fanfics I’ve been reading tells me that I’ve read the equivalent of about 20 novels just worth of that stuff. So, take that as you will! In my personal opinion, reading is reading, so I did awesome. And if a bunch of that reading just happened to be sappy angelxdemon fluff-n-smut written by fellow hyper-fanatics? Well, that’s my prerogative and ya’ll can keep your mouths shut on the matter. 😛

Goal #3: Build my social media communities…EVERYWHERE!

Looking at the overall numbers for the entire year, everything went up, which is obviously a good thing. The numbers aren’t exactly huge increases though, so I’m finding it difficult to be overly proud about them.

2019’s numbers are as follows:

  • The YouTube channel went up 173 followers
  • The YouTube Twitter account gained 112 followers
  • The YouTube Instagram went up 56 followers
  • The Snapchat account’s score went up points
  • The Author Twitter account went up 44 followers
  • The Author Instagram account gained 235 followers

I wouldn’t exactly call those bad numbers, but they’re definitely rookie ones. Over the course of an entire year the biggest increase was a little over 200? Yeah, no, obviously I have to work harder in 2020.

Goal #4: Play more (proper) video games.

I didn’t really record this one in a way that I can give an overall report on, but suffice it to say that I didn’t end up playing nearly as much as I was hoping or intending to. Part of that comes down to the fact that I ended up out at work in Alberta for four straight months. Part of it is that when I had spare time I chose to spend that time reading or writing (which you can’t really blame me for). Part of it is just good ol’ fashioned failure to make an effort. But as this particular goal was mostly just about enjoying life a bit more, I’ll let it slide, because I enjoyed life just fine in 2019.

Goal #5: Put more time, focus, and energy into the YouTube channel.

If there’s a failure on the list, this is the one. I’m not even going to make any excuses. There are definitely some good ones, and they’re legitimate, but the overall issue here is that I just haven’t been into it at all. I’m really hoping to turn it around in 2020, but 2019 just had so much else going on for me that I couldn’t find it in me to expend any excess energy on YouTube, especially after the “child-friendly” bullshit began and made everyone terrified to breathe on the platform.

Long story short, YouTube was pretty much a bust in 2019. But I’m not ready to quit yet, so fingers crossed for a significantly more productive 2020!

And that’s what it all boils down to! 2019 is gone, and while some of my goals may as well have not existed at all, some of them ended up being all kinds of success. Overall, I’m pleased, but I definitely have thoughts about the upcoming year! To hear about those thoughts, stay tuned for my Goals 2020 post, coming soon! 😀

Goals 2019: Week 51 in Review

plansandgoals2019weeklyreview

Ho ho ho-my-gosh! You guys, it’s only two more days until Christmas! This is CRAZY! Am I the only one who feels like the holidays just creeped right up this year? I mean…we started our holiday stuff EARLY this year, and I’m STILL shocked! :O

And that also means that it’s nearly the end of the year! 2019 is coming to a close and 2020 is upon us. Which means the end of 2019’s goals and the creation of new ones! Man…I guess it’s time to start thinking about what I want to do with 2020!

But for now, let’s take our second-to-last look at the goals of 2019, shall we?

Goal #1: Write half a million words.

I had to admit defeat, my friends, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to QUITE pull this one off. I just haven’t been writing as much as I’d like, but it’s not for lack of desire. It’s just that, hey…it’s the holidays. I can’t ditch my family fun just to write a few more words, right? Right. That said, I DID dedicate myself to my Ineffable Advent, which means that I have been writing SOME. This past week I wrote 8078 words, which honestly isn’t too bad considering all the last-minute-shopping and family visiting and cleaning up and wrapping I’ve had to do.

That means, however, that I have over 38,000 words left to go for 2019 if I want to hit my goal. 38k in a week? Uh…not likely.

As I’ve said before, however, I’m more than happy with what I have pulled off. So I won’t get down on myself! I’ll just do better next year! 😀

  • Goal #1a: Write at least a quarter million fictional words.  Of the 8078 words I wrote last week, 6425 of those words were fictional ones, every last one of them toward my Ineffable Advent stories. I haven’t gone through the totals yet to see where I am for a yearly total, but I’m thinking that it looks pretty good. Fingers crossed, and I’ll let you know next week!

Goal #2: Read at least 50 books.

I haven’t had a lot of time to sit down and read recently, so I’m still working on A Christmas Carol, but it’s coming along! I won’t be able to report a 50-book goal completion on Goodreads, but I definitely read more this year than I’ve read in ages. Especially if you consider all the fanfiction (which I do, #sorrynotsorry). 😛

Goal #3: Build my social media communities…EVERYWHERE!

I can’t say that I’ve been hardcore attentive to the social media this past week, because, hey…it’s time for family stuff right now! But I have been posting my Ineffable Advent, as well as my Geeky Christmas Countdown pics, so there’s definitely been a bit of activity on the accounts.

Last week’s numbers are as follows:

  • The YouTube channel stayed the same
  • The YouTube Twitter account gained 1 follower
  • The YouTube Instagram went down 1 follower
  • The Snapchat account’s score went up 7 points
  • The Author Twitter account went down 1 follower
  • The Author Instagram account gained 4 followers

Hmm…I guess we can say that everything more or less everything stayed the same. :\ It was a very stagnant week, aside from the author Instagram (thank you Ineffable Fandom!) I’m hoping that most of the stagnation has to do with the fact that everyone is busy shopping, wrapping, visiting, and all that other fun holiday stuff. Here’s hoping we’ll see some movement again in the new year.

Goal #4: Play more (proper) video games.

If I haven’t been getting any of the other stuff done, you can probably be confident that there hasn’t been a lot of gaming going on. But I did do a bit of playing with my daughter, in the form of Pokemon and Minecraft. In a couple of days I expect there will be a lot of gaming going on, though, so you’ll probably get an interesting report for the final post next week.

Goal #5: Put more time, focus, and energy into the YouTube channel.

Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies. There’s been no time, no motivation, and no inclination. It’s the holidays, you guys. There are much more important things to worry about. Here’s to 2020.

This was a bit of a short one, but I have family stuff to do, so I’m sure you’ll forgive me. 😀

Happy holidays, everyone! Whatever you do or don’t celebrate, I hope you enjoy the final few weeks of the year with family and friends!

Goals 2019: Week 50 in Review

plansandgoals2019weeklyreview

Holy hell, you guys! It’s nearly Christmas! o.o I hope you’re all having a holly jolly time and haven’t been letting yourself get too stressed out with the holidays! I’ve been pretty chill, for the most part. I’m a little cranky that the shopping isn’t quite done yet, but I’ll get over that with enough tea and spiked eggnog.

Life the past week has been pretty much dedicated to shopping, wrapping, baking, watching Christmas specials, and working hard to remember all the things that I’m quite certain I’m forgetting. Previously mentioned health problems are still plaguing me, but I’m surviving. The extent of my exercising has been walking around stores and the occasional bout of Just Dance 2020 with the kid, and I’ve been eating WAY too many sweets. Meh, it’s nearly the end of the year. I’ll do better in the new year.

(She said with a chuckle.)

There’s not really all that much more to say besides that, to be honest. Beyond all the holiday stuff I’ve mostly just been writing and watching shows/movies with my hubby. The world in general is too stressful during this time of year to be bothered working myself up too much with nonsense.

So let’s get on with the goals, shall we?

Goal #1: Write half a million words.

I’ve reached a point at which Pacemaker.press is just telling me to write ALL my remaining words today. If I fail to do so, it’ll tell me to write them all tomorrow. It’s being a saucy brat, is what I’m getting at.

Last week I wrote a total of 8701 words. It could have been significantly more, but we spent two full days out shopping, plus a day cleaning in anticipation of company, so that put a bit of a dent in my available writing time. As it stands right now, I need to write 46,753 words by the end of December to reach this goal. I don’t know if that’s going to be possible or not, but I’m definitely still going to try. As I’ve mentioned in the previous few posts, I’m happy either way because I’ve demolished my previous “high scores”, but it would obviously be awesome to actually hit the goal point. And I still have Ineffable Advent stories to write, plus a little New Years idea I had as well, plus I had a short non-canon idea for a “The Other World” Christmas story. Hmm…I’m running out of time for this stuff. Better get through this post so I can write!

  • Goal #1a: Write at least a quarter million fictional words.  I won’t look at the official numbers until the last post of the year, but I’m pretty confident that I pulled this one off. Once late summer hit I was all about the fiction, so I feel like all those words must add up to at least a quarter mill. For this week specifically, 6908 of my words were fictional ones, but for the big final number you’ll have to wait just a bit longer.

Goal #2: Read at least 50 books.

Still working on A Christmas Carol. I’ll definitely finish it before Christmas (it’s not exactly a long book), but there’s also been lots of other stuff to focus on, so I haven’t been devoting huge chunks of time to it.

On a related note though, I’m pretty sure my husband got me, like…six or seven new books for Christmas, not counting the fact that my parents and in-laws usually get me a couple, so I’ll have plenty to read in the coming year!

Goal #3: Build my social media communities…EVERYWHERE!

I understand social media less and less as time goes on. I know I haven’t been the most overwhelmingly active of people recently, but…

Last week’s numbers are as follows:

  • The YouTube channel lost 1 subscriber
  • The YouTube Twitter account lost 2 followers
  • The YouTube Instagram went down 2 followers
  • The Snapchat account’s score went up 15 points
  • The Author Twitter account went down 1 follower
  • The Author Instagram account gained 5 followers

That’s a lot of negatives. Mind you they’re only small negatives, but still. The Author Instagram seems to be the only thing moving in an upward direction, and I know that’s only because the Ineffable Fandom is ravenous. I don’t know what’s going on with everything else lately, but hopefully it begins to turn around in the new year.

Goal #4: Play more (proper) video games.

Honestly, the days are starting to melt into one another a bit, so I’m not 100% certain on this one. But I don’t THINK I played anything last week…except maybe a little bit of trainer assist on Pikachu Let’s Go with the little one. There just hasn’t been time! Or when there has been time I’ve been focusing on writing. Yeah, I sow the seeds of my own destruction, I know. 😛

Goal #5: Put more time, focus, and energy into the YouTube channel.

The videos that I mentioned last week got edited, uploaded, and went live. There hasn’t been much effort put into the channel since then, but I again bring you back to my points about shopping and cleaning and so on. Gimmi a break, k? Thanks. I knew you’d understand.

And that’s pretty much all there is to that! It wasn’t an unproductive week by a long shot; I just wasn’t overly focused on the topics of these posts because of more important stuff taking precedent. But, in general, things are going okay. It’s almost Christmas, almost the end of the year, and almost time to reset everything for another 365 days! :O

Goals 2019: Week 49 in Review

plansandgoals2019weeklyreview

Let me give you a quick layout of how my day has gone so far:

I got up, got the kid sent off to school, had a coffee, and made my husband and I a smoothie. Then I went upstairs to go through the Christmas presents that need to be wrapped.

From there I knocked over approximately everything I breathed near, nearly threw my back out trying to reach something in the closet, ACTUALLY threw my back out lugging a bunch of stuff upstairs to put away, accidentally kicked a bag of garbage I’d been collecting down the stairs (while it was still open), and came downstairs to find that the cat is bleeding again (she gets a ridiculous number of UTIs), so I had to rapidly get all the wrapped presents off the floor before she could accidentally ruin them, during which I threw my back out even worse.

It’s only noon, you guys. Mondays, am I right? -_-

So that was my morning, but how was the entire previous week? Well…uneventful for the most part. Anything health-related, I’m just gonna go ahead and laugh at because we’ve been all about the Christmas goodies and I’ve just been fatting it up something fierce. Exercise has been relegated to whatever steps occur when shopping or cleaning are happening. Hubby and I have started having smoothies in the morning, which is good, but I’m currently so hardcore into holiday sweets that it hardly matters at this point.

Fuck it. I’ll do better in the New Year. Bad attitude, I know, but there’s just too much going on at the moment, and Christmas is a stressful time, and I refuse to make it any more stressful than it needs to be. So there. Yeah, you heard me.

Okay, let’s go ahead and get into the proper stuff. Only a few couple more weeks to go for these goals! :O

Goal #1: Write half a million words.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck. you know what? There’s actually a possibility that I won’t accomplish this one after all. I mean, technically I’m still more than happy with myself because I’m over 100k past my previous “high score”, as it were. But to actually hit that half-a-mil goal? I’ll need to write something like 58k words in these last three weeks of December. X.X

Last week I wrote a total of 12,626 words, which is awesome. That’s over 1500 per day! A totally excellent number. Unfortunately, what my Pacemaker.press account needed me to write was 35,756 words. So those remaining 20-some-k-ish words had to be added to this week. And oh man…lol…you should see the goals it’s given me for this week. There are two days that are in the range of a thousand words, and every other day is, like…13 or 14k each. As if. Mind you, those numbers are so high because Pacemaker is trying to get me to finish my goal within the next week, but still. The closer we get to Christmas the less likely it is that I’m going to have the time to just sit down and write massive word counts, so…

Yeah, I’m not giving up yet, but it’s looking a little shaky, that’s for sure.

  • Goal #1a: Write at least a quarter million fictional words.  Fictional words are still going strong, thanks in a big part to my Ineffable Advent. That’s where I’ve been putting all of my writing energy at the moment, in order to ensure I don’t miss any days or get behind. Currently everything up to Dec 15 is available on my Patreon, if you’d like to check them out early, and everything up to today is up on my AO3 account.
Anyway, the point is that 10,641 of last week’s words were fictional ones, with the remainder being blog updates.

Goal #2: Read at least 50 books.

Would you believe that I’ve started reading an actual book? No, serious! I swear it!

Okay, so, first of all, I started adding my library to a decent app I found that allows me to separate my books from Adrianna’s, and what I’ve been realizing as I’m doing this is that I have way too many books that I haven’t read yet. So that’s definitely going to have to be rectified in 2020. That said…I bought a new book. Don’t hit me.

I’ve been saying that I need to read Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol for years now, and when I was doing a bit of online shopping on Amazon I noticed that there was a copy on there that was only $5, so I said fuck it and ordered it up. It arrived, and I’m currently in the process of reading it. Soon I will not only be able to say that I’ve officially read A Christmas Carol, but I’ll also be able to say that I read a proper book for the first time in what feels like literal months.

…actually, it may have been literally months. Damn. I really have to get off my fanfic bullshit in the near year.

Goal #3: Build my social media communities…EVERYWHERE!

My social media presence recently has been mostly delegated to sharing my #GeekyChristmas Countdown pics, pics of whatever my daughter gets in her advent calendar each day, and sharing news of each day’s Ineffable Advent story going live. I just haven’t really seemed to have the time or energy for much else. So, basically, don’t expect decent numbers.

Last week’s numbers are as follows:

  • The YouTube channel lost 10 subscribers
  • The YouTube Twitter account gained 6 follower
  • The YouTube Instagram account stayed the same
  • The Snapchat account’s score went up 8 points
  • The Author Twitter account went down 2 followers
  • The Author Instagram account stayed the same

I’m not sure what happened with the YT Twitter account, given I haven’t really been doing anything on it worth following recently, but everything else makes sense. I can’t really complain about the stuff that stayed steady, and a loss of two followers on the author Twitter isn’t anything to get worked up about. The 10-sub loss on YouTube is a bit frustrating, but we also haven’t uploaded any videos in AGES, so I can’t really get too worked up there either.

Long story short, there’s not really anything that needs to be addressed specifically.

Goal #4: Play more (proper) video games.

Ooh, I kinda-sorta played some games this past week! Kinda-sorta… I mean, I definitely played some Smash Bros with the husband and daughter, so there’s that. I also played “support trainer” to my daughter on Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu. And I also mussed around a little on the SNES Virtual Console on the Switch. Go me? Yup. Go me. lol

Goal #5: Put more time, focus, and energy into the YouTube channel.

Believe it or not, we actually did put a bit of effort in this past week. I mean, all in all not all that much ended up getting done between being busy and being lazy (the two are pretty much equal contenders at this point, honestly), but we did manage to film three videos. I edited one of those three, plus a vid we’d filmed literal months ago but never actually put up, and then my husband went through and repaired some terrible, terrible mistakes I made. So hey…that’s something, right?

Our intention is to get the other two vids edited and launch all four in a big sweep. And there are three other vids that really REALLY need to be filmed, like…a month ago, so those will be coming along (hopefully) shortly as well. Wish us luck and sanity.

All in all I’d say that it was a pretty decent week. I mean…productivity wasn’t exactly through the roof or anything, but I wrote a good bit, the social stuff didn’t die completely, and I’ve started reading and doing channel stuff, so…yeah! Things are happening! And this blog post accounts for a whole 10% of what Pacemaker.press wants me to have written by the end of today! *insert laughing/crying emojis here* Onward and upward toward the holidays and the end of the year, good friends!

Goals 2019: Week 48 in Review

plansandgoals2019weeklyreview

Oh my goodness, you guys! We’re in the home stretch! It’s December! We’re into the final four weeks of the year! Aaaaahhhhh!!!!

I won’t lie, my thought process, motivation, and ability to be efficient has definitely dissolved in the past few weeks and will likely continue to do so as we get deeper into the holiday season. It not an excuse (exactly), it’s just something that I deal with every year around this time. It’s a little bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder, a little bit of shitty-weather-mucking-everything-up, a little bit of there’s-just-so-much-to-do, and just a wee bit of good old fashioned being a lazy bitch. Yeah, I’m not going to let myself totally get away with being a twit.

So what was the past week like? Well, first you have to take into consideration that both Black Friday and my daughter’s birthday party were last week. So you can just go ahead and assume that both of those days were total write-offs for anything other than Christmas shopping and birthday hyjinx. The rest of the days were more-or-less open, but there were lots of random things snagging my attention, such as baking a ton of cookies and cupcakes for the aforementioned birthday party, and cleaning up the house so visiting family wouldn’t have to look at dirty socks strewn across the living room and a kitchen that looked like a bomb exploded in it.

Health related stuff has been very decidedly put on a standstill. I definitely have to start drinking more water again and curbing my desire to eat ALL THE THINGS, but exercise vids at the moment are just a time vampire that I can’t seem to fit into my life without sacrificing other stuff that I’m not currently willing or able to sacrifice. So for now I’ll focus on the water and not-being-a-cow thing. That said, I’m also experiencing a distinct health issue that may or may not be hurting my prospects as a side-effect, and I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow to see if we can’t work out what’s going on there.

In other health-related news, I just made an appointment for the blood drive that’s going to be in town next week. Assuming there are no issues that keep me from being allowed to participate, it’ll be the first time I’ve ever given blood. I’m very nervous about it because I’ve never been a big fan of having blood drawn (it feels so squinchy and grossssss!) but I’m determined to do it because it’s an important thing to do. If I can possibly save someone’s life, that’s obviously well worth a little bit of discomfort for a relatively short period of time. Right? Right. Donate blood, you guys. Blood.ca if you’re in Canada. It’s super-easy to make an appointment. Go do it. It could be the most important Christmas gift you ever give.

What else do I have to mention this week? Hmm…not a whole lot, I suppose. Mostly I’ve just been trying to relax and enjoy the looming holidays while I can, in case I end up going back out to work early in the New Year. You can’t blame me for that, right?!

Ooh, one last thing to mention before I get into the goals! The Other World: Book Two ebook edition is officially live! So go check it out! The paperback version will be following soon but just seems to have gotten caught up in the review process. I’ll make another announcement when that is live as well. 🙂

Goal #1: Write half a million words.

Okay, let’s get into this! Feelings are a little mixed concerning my writing goals this week. On the one hand, my word count of 12,766 words for last week isn’t exactly anything to sneeze at! In fact, that’s a perfectly lovely word count, especially when you consider all the time I spent doing other important things last week.

The reason feelings are a little mixed is because Pacemaker.press wanted me to write a bloody total of 28,187 words! Yeah, no, seriously! You know what’s even worse? Because I didn’t even come anywhere remotely close to that goal last week, Pacemaker wants me to write THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY SIX words this week! *dies*

So, yeah, long story short: Pacemaker is trying to murder me. BUT I still have a bunch of my Ineffable Advent stories to write, so hopefully that will help me to reach at least a decent percentage of that goal. For the love of all that’s good, wish me luck, okay? Okay.

  • Goal #1a: Write at least a quarter million fictional words.  Fiction continues to be the overwhelming majority of what I’ve been writing for the past while, which is great. Of my 12,766 words last week, 10,987 of them were fictional. Mostly that was fan fiction, since I’ve been doing this Ineffable Advent thing, but there’s also a bit of short story goodness in there as well. I’m hoping to put a short story featuring my The Other World characters up on the Patreon sometime throughout the month, but since I’ve already begun the Ineffable Advent I obviously have to make sure I complete that first. I’ve got good feelings though. Oh yes, lots of good feelings.

Goal #2: Read at least 50 books.

You know, I haven’t even looked at Goodreads in a few months now, so I don’t even know where it is that I left off on this goal. What I can definitely say is that if you add up all the fan fiction I’ve read since mid-year, transpose it into an approximation of average-length novels, and add those to my goal, I’d have killed it for sure. So I’m not going to get too hard on myself right now. That said, I recently started logging my books in an app I found that allows me to organize them in a way that’s actually easy to look at, and it reminded me of how many books I have that I never got around to reading. So I promise you that I’ll get back to it in the new year. It’s time to get through that massive pile I’ve got upstairs in my reading/writing room. Those books deserve better than just sitting on my shelves.

Goal #3: Build my social media communities…EVERYWHERE!

Fuck me. Oh, uh…did I say that aloud? Yeah, no, I’m not sure what’s been going on with me with social media lately. I honestly can’t figure out how it seems like I’m always on my phone and yet never posting/tweeting/etc. What am I doing on there? It’s a genuine mystery.

(That’s a lie. Mostly I’m reading. Shut up.)

Anyway, let’s just…let’s just look at the damn numbers, okay?

Last week’s numbers are as follows:

  • The YouTube channel lost 2 subscribers
  • The YouTube Twitter account gained 1 follower
  • The YouTube Instagram account went up 1 follower
  • The Snapchat account’s score went up 12 points
  • The Author Twitter account went up 2 followers
  • The Author Instagram account gained 4 followers

Oh! Okay. Well. That’s not too bad, honestly. I was expecting a bunch of negatives again. But tiny positives…I can handle that. Yup. For sure.

Goal #4: Play more (proper) video games.

I didn’t have a lot of time to really do anything major last week, but guess what?! I actually did play some games! Unfortunately they happen to be games that I’ve played a billion times before! 😛 But hey, give me a break…I just found out about the SNES Virtual Console that’s available on the Nintendo Switch, and the SNES was home to some of my favorite games of all time. Can you really blame me for diving into A Link to the Past for the thousandth time? No. No you can’t. And if you try I will beat you the fuck down, because A Link to the Past is one of the greatest games in the history of video games.

Goal #5: Put more time, focus, and energy into the YouTube channel.

Can we skip this one this week? You can’t see, but I’m rolling my eyes right now.

In my defence, I spent a good bit of last week working on editing a video that we’d filmed waaaaaaaaaay back in July and never actually put up. And the thing about that vid is that there was over an hour and a half worth of footage that I had to sort through and cut. And since I was gone for four consecutive months and therefore wasn’t doing any video editing, my meagre abilities are dull as a spoon. So, long story short, editing that video was painful. So. Yeah. Gimmi a break, okay? Okay.

And that was that! Looking back over the week it doesn’t seem like I really got a whole lot done, but I feel satisfied in general. And that’s what really matters, right? Self-satisfaction? Yes. Yes, I think I’ve got something going there. Let’s go with that!

How was your week? Did you accomplish any goals? Make any new ones? Do anything else that made you feel awesome and accomplished? Feel free to share in the comments!
